NEW BOOK UPCOMING
Presenting the research ‘Tracing the Reflexes of Le Corbusier’s Concept in the Architectural Practice of Socialist Montenegro’ at the conference Le Corbusier in Yugoslavia and the Balkans in Sarajevo (September 22–23, 2023), international and regional participants had the opportunity to gain a comprehensive insight into the architectural heritage of Montenegro from the period 1945–1970.
The topic formulated in this way aims at understanding and interpreting architectural work through the prism of the indirect influence of the French architect Charles Édouard Jeanneret, better known under the pseudonym Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret – Le Corbusier, 1887–1965), whose modernist philosophy significantly shaped the architectural practice worldwide, including the former Yugoslavia. As the findings presented at the conference contributed to new insights, it was necessary to synthesize them into a monograph that would map Montenegrin architectural heritage as part of the regional and international architectural research mosaic. This will hopefully initiate the process of wider social recognition of this phenomenon, particularly in the context of its cultural and tourist promotion.
